Assistant Supervisor of Safety and Transportation
 District Office
10 hrs/day, 4 days/week

RATE OF PAY: $104,229.00 - $114,163.00 (24-25 salary schedule)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Safety Management, Emergency Management, Transportation, or a related field, or equivalent experience in law enforcement, school safety, or pupil transportation.
  • Minimum of Two (2) years of experience in school safety, emergency management, law enforcement, or student transportation operations.
  • Experience in personnel supervision, training, and compliance preferred.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of current insurance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety & Security (50%)

  • District Emergency Preparedness & Safety Plans
    • Develop, implement, and update the district’s emergency safety plan.
    • Coordinate emergency response procedures with school administrators and local agencies.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with emergency preparedness standards.
  • Standard Response Protocols & Safety Drills
    • Establish, implement, and maintain standard response protocols for various emergency situations.
    • Plan and conduct regular district and county-wide safety drills.
    • Evaluate and refine safety procedures based on drill outcomes.
  • Threat Assessments & Risk Mitigation
    • Conduct threat assessments to identify and address potential safety risks.
    • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified threats and vulnerabilities\
  • FEMA Disaster Relief Planning
    • Develop and coordinate FEMA disaster relief plans in collaboration with district leadership and emergency management agencies.
    • Ensure district schools are prepared for disaster response and relief efforts.
  • Community & Law Enforcement Collaboration
    • Serve as the district liaison to local law enforcement and emergency responders.
    • Maintain strong community partnerships to enhance safety and security efforts.
    • Engage in community outreach to promote awareness and preparedness.

Transportation Operations (50%)

  • Student Transportation Safety & Compliance
    • Develop, implement, and oversee district-wide safety protocols for student transportation.
    • Monitor compliance with state and federal transportation safety regulations.
    • Coordinate and facilitate safety training for bus drivers and transportation staff.
  • Parent Communication & Student Discipline in Transportation
    • Manage communication between the district, parents, and transportation staff regarding bus safety and student conduct.
    • Address and resolve parent concerns related to student transportation.
    • Implement and enforce disciplinary measures for bus safety violations
  • Management & Supervision of Mechanics
    • Supervise and evaluate school bus mechanics and maintenance staff.
    • Oversee maintenance schedules and ensure buses meet safety and operational standards.
    • Coordinate repair schedules to minimize disruptions to transportation services.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills to effectively support safety and transportation operations.
  • Knowledge of emergency management procedures, transportation regulations, and risk assessment strategies.
  • Ability to assess and respond to complex situations with sound judgment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff, students, families, and external agencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications for data tracking, reporting, and communication.
